FUNERAL GENIUS PLAYED ON KISSING DISASTERS RADIO (WERW)
Friday October 4, 2013 at 8:40 pm

DJ Ian Shick played us on his Kissing Disasters Radio show on WREW!

Back in February 2013!

Reasons for the late mention of this - We didn't know! We're only an assembly line of 3 people.

Kissing Disasters Radio:
Every week he plays the latest and greatest in punk-pop and hardcore music and features a groundbreaking artist from the underground will be featured, the rest of the music is random.

So that is awesome! We are pretty punkish and Andrea has always thought she's hardcore even though she's only 5 ft.

WERW is Syracuse University’s only independent, student-run radio station.

MAKAR: LIFE AFTER THE FUNERAL
Friday October 4, 2013 at 8:42 pm

Via email conversation, Mark and The High Cost of Free Music recently discussed the future, the past, and “life after the Funeral”.

This is the only time we like to be mentioned in the same breath as Miley Cyrus!

Check out the interview/review in full here:

https://makarmusic.squarespace.com/interviews-1/#/high-cost-of-music

[the original site is now defunct sadly]

We are floored that The High Cost of Free Music that out of 76 albums they receive per day they actually had the time to listen to our songs. Considering the time stamp on our emails back and forth, I think there is some serious sleep deprivation going on.

Friday January 24, 2014 at 9:38 pm

I Wanna Know What I Don't Know was played on Insomniac Radio on Radio Fairfax this past Wednesday, January 22, 2014.

Is there a more fitting place for MAKAR to be played since Andrea is a total insomniac? We think not!

Our song opened the show! We were played next to a strange sleep-deprived, slowed down version of Dolly Parton "Jolene".

Be sure to tune into Insomniac Radio every Wednesday from 11pm to midnight!

The lovely distorted clock image comes from MorgueFile - by hurley_gurlie182 7 years ago, I hope she got some sleep since then

RADIO AIRPLAY ON THE GOFFUS ROCK EXPERIENCE RADIO PROGRAM
Friday March 28, 2014 at 3:13 pm

I WANNA KNOW WHAT I DON'T KNOW was played on The Goffus Rock Experience on Radio Fairfax around 11:38 am on Friday, March 28th.

Andrea's addendum: Doug Goffus played Dazz Band's Let it Whip before us which I swore was Rick James and also he played a live version of Joan Baez singing Fare Thee Well. Which is funny because a while ago, Joan Baez was rehearsing at a rehearsal studio we used to frequent and I was too freaked out to say anything to her in the lounge or even sing in our soundproofed rehearsal room.

MAKAR FEATURED ON UNSIGNED RADIO ON CIUT
Friday May 2, 2014 at 3:04 pm

MAKAR received some radio love on CIUT's Unsigned Radio show today, May 2, 2014! The host played Funeral Genius and I Wanna Know What I Don't Know.

You can listen to this rocking hour of music from unsigned indie bands below

But here is our pithy summary.

The host, Australian born musician Shaun O'Neill, said after Andrea reached out to him, “when I heard the music, I wanted to feature it”. He summed up our beginnings brilliantly -- that Andrea and Mark’s musical partnership began when Andrea couldn’t keep from butting her nose into Mark’s songwriting efforts spawning Mark to suggest that she start writing songs as well. Yes, you have the kernel of it. :)

We’re hoping to play live in the studio at CIUT sometime this summer. Stay tuned!

A little about Unsigned Radio on CIUT:
Unsigned Radio is a weekly radio show on Toronto's only community radio station CIUT 89.5FM

Hosted by Australian born musician Shaun O'Neill, the show will feature unsigned acts with a focus on Toronto but also from across Canada and around the world. It will also feature a gig guide and special guests each week.

Having noticed the increasing competition in the music scene and being involved in the scene himself, Shaun wanted to give musicians the chance to have their music heard in a market which is becoming more and more difficult in which to get people's attention.

Alongside the show, unsignedradio.ca will feature podcasts of previous shows and featured bands as well as links to all of the acts featured each week.

Be sure to check out their site and follow Unsigned Radio on twitter as well as CIUT
