MAKAR IS IN THE TOP 100 OF THE ENTIRE DELI MAGAZINE INDIE POP NYC CHART!!
Thursday October 23, 2014 at 6:48 pm

Makar is number 89!! MGMT is 3, Vampire Weekend is 4, Grizzly Bear is 10, Rufus Wainwright is 20, Bravery is 24, Sufjan Stevens is 32, Fiery Furnaces are 63, Luscious Jackson is 86 and Makar is 89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little indie band that could!

http://nyc.thedelimagazine.com/top300?&genre=indie%20pop,lo-fi,britpop,mellow%20core,orchestral%20pop,lounge,rootsy%20pop,dream-pop

And if that wasn’t enough...

MAKAR IS IN THE TOP 100 OF THE DELI MAGAZINE CHARTS FOR NYC INDIE GUITAR POP.

We're right behind Luscious Jackson at number 77 in popularity!
And we’re number 75 in web buzz
http://nyc.thedelimagazine.com/top300?&genre=indie%20pop

Unfreakingreal!

We only discovered these priceless factoids because Mark was perusing The Deli Magazine Charts as he does periodically and didn’t see us in our usual third column (because we are super indie) so then he looked down the second column and we weren’t there. Mark sighed and thought we finally had fallen off the list after 3 years, but then with a hail Mary gleam in his eye, he checked the holy grail of the first column and there we were!!! MAKAR is in the top 100!!! WTF????

Fame is fickle my friends, but we’re so high, we ARE the freaking kite!

ANDREA'S POEMS PUBLISHED IN THE NOVEMBER 2014 ISSUE OF SYNCHRONIZED CHAOS
Tuesday November 25, 2014 at 7:48 pm

Three of Andrea's poems - Darkened matter, Déjà vu and the second-raters- were published in the November 2014 issue of Synchronized Chaos: Union And Cohesion.

We hope you will peruse the entire issue!

The editorial staff introduces her poetry - Andrea DeAngelis brings the language of cosmology to the world of human relationships and personal identity. Her speakers feel lost and mediocre as they confront the ‘dark matter’ of their psyches during times of loneliness.

A little about Synchronized Chaos
Synchronized Chaos is an interdisciplinary art, literary, science, cultural, and travel writing webzine. The brainchild of an international group of contributors and volunteer editors/creative facilitators. Inspired by the mathematical concept of chaos theory, the study of how to effectively model and predict the behavior of systems which seem random, but are in fact highly influenced by initial conditions not yet fully understood.

ANDREA'S POEM, RED SHIFT WAS PUBLISHED IN DARK MATTER JOURNAL
Friday March 6, 2015 at 10:21 pm

Andrea's poem, Red Shift, was published in Dark Matter Journal (Issue 6 - February 2015)

You can download the whole issue here
http://darkmatterjournal.org/2015/02/issue-6-is-now-online.html

Andrea’s poem is on p.8

Please note -- “The reason the siren slides is because it doesn't hit you.”

The above quote in Red Shift should be attributed to Astronomer John Dobson. The footnote was erroneously omitted.

About Dark Matter Journal:
Dark Matter is a blog for speculative literature. Dark Matter refers to the unknown particles suggested by the Standard Model to explain observations of gravity which cannot be accounted for by observable matter and energy. It could also be considered a reference to the thoughts and ideas that ferment inside a human brain before they emerge through spoken or written words. The title was chosen to reflect the emphasis of the unknown in both scientific inquiry and creative writing. Modern science provides new opportunities for natural metaphor to search for and create meaning in all areas of human thought and endeavor. Dark Matter will use cosmological, evolutionary, quantum mechanical and traditional natural metaphor to elicit literary thought and infuse modern ideas into poetry and prose.

A little about CXCW
CXCW is an annual online music festival that is for everyone. No badges, lanyards, bracelets, parking fees, ticket lines, exclusive parties, VIP tents, porta-potties, babysitters, dogsitters, expensive beer prices, or crappy hotel rooms…just the sweet comfort of your own couch. Here’s how it works, artists and bands from all over the globe record a video performance for us from their living rooms, kitchens, porches, bathrooms, you name it…pretty much anywhere but a stage…and we post them during the week of the festival (March 15 – 21, 2015).

Visit their Youtube channel for videos from past CXCW fests.

Andrea’s poem, view from the immortal turnpike , was published in Uppagus, Issue 12 this month.
You can read her poem here - https://uppagus.com/poems/deangelis-turnpike/

The issue “as a whole is an ode to nostalgia” (per the editors). Who says that nostalgia is a useless emotion?
For how can it be useless when it is so powerful an undertow?

Please be sure to read the entire issue and follow these lovely folks on twitter and like them on Facebook.
